The cheapest safari in the table is Lapland Welcome's 1.5-hour Introduction to Snowmobiling, from €99 per person with two on a sled, with hotel transfers and winter clothing. Polar Creek's 2-hour tour over the fells covers 25 to 45 km for €120 (child €60) but has no pick-up. For the northern lights, Polar Creek's aurora tour costs €150 and the 3-hour safari of Lapland Safaris €175. To drive on your own, Polar Creek rents a sled from €150 for 2 hours.

Polar Creek rents a two-seat Lynx from €150 for 2 hours and €270 for 8 to 24 hours, with two sets of riding gear. Fuel is extra and 150 km a day is included.
Saariselkä is a small village. Lapland Safaris meets guests staying in the centre at its safari office, and Polar Creek's tours do not include a pick-up. Ivalo airport is 27 km away, about 25 minutes by road.
Official snowmobile routes are free. Trails run by Metsähallitus, the state forest agency, need a trail permit: €17 for 3 hours, €29 for a day, €60 for a week or €100 for the season, with sales for 2026–27 from 1 November. Whether your route needs one depends on the trail, so ask the rental company.
On a marked snowmobile route the driver needs at least a T-class licence, which a car licence includes, and the law sets the minimum age at 15. The safari companies in the table usually ask drivers to be 18.
Polar Creek's 1-hour tour runs only in November and December. Lapland Safaris' prices are its rates from 7 January to 4 April 2027; Christmas and New Year cost more. Kelekkamies in Ivalo delivers rental sleds to Saariselkä for drivers aged 20 or over with snowmobile experience and a Finnish driving licence.
